It is composed of a clock and two candlesticks, whose rich and meticulously crafted details make it an exceptional piece.
The clock is distinguished by its foliage and volute decoration, crowned with an elegant urn. The dial bears the signature “A. Ducommun & Fils Avignon,” testifying to the quality and know-how of the manufacturer. Its base is decorated with elaborate scrollwork, floral garlands and medallions that add an extra touch of refinement.
The clock mechanism is stamped “Japy Frères & Cie – Grande Médaille d’Honneur” dating from 1880.
The candlesticks, with their five arms of light decorated with acanthus scrolls, embody a perfect harmony between functionality and decorative art. Their barrel, designed like a flowered vase, rests on a base decorated with chimera heads and falling fruit, illustrating the richness and creativity of the ornaments.
This clock is a masterpiece that reflects the aesthetics and taste of the 19th century, while paying homage to the timeless elegance of the Louis XVI style.
