Modernist Gerhard Herbst Studios Silver Collar is meticulously hand forged to the precise hardness necessary to achieve the spring flexibility required for fitting. Originally produced in 1987 this work remained in limited production until 1993. Measuring 1 1/4’’ at its widest point, this work has an internal diameter of 4 1/4’’ and a circumference of 14 1/2’’. Weighing in at 72 grams this piece comfortably fits neck sizes under 14 3/8’’.

Modernist designer, Gerhard Herbst translates sculptural form into the jewelry medium. Popularly known for his spatial shapes and fluid manipulations of metal, Herbst began producing his unique style of jewelry in 1975. Herbst then continued to study both sculpture and jewelry design at San Diego State University, and upon graduating he established his jewelry studio in Ocean Beach California. Adopting a wholesale manufacturing business model, Herbst would reproduce designs which he would then sell to leading Museum shops and galleries throughout the United States. Although no edition numbers were set, total production was limited as each piece was individually and personally handcrafted by Gerhard Herbst. See less
