The sculpture shows Dante standing on a square base, dressed in a long robe with minutely detailed folds and wearing a headdress topped with a laurel wreath. His right hand is raised, while his left hand holds a small book, symbolizing his role as a writer and thinker. The dark patina of the bronze gives the work an antique and elegant appearance, highlighting the artist's expertise in the details of the face and clothing. A captivating piece that pays homage to the author of the “Divine Comedy”.

Antonin-Clair Forestier (1865-1912) is a French sculptor who was a student of Gauthier and Charpentier at the School of Decorative Arts. He won numerous medals for his works from 1890. Recognized for his talent, he created plasters and stone sculptures. It is exhibited at the Museum in Cannes, his hometown.

Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) was an Italian poet, writer, thinker and politician. “Father of the Italian language”, he is, with Petrarch and Boccaccio, one of the “three crowns” who imposed Tuscan as a literary language. A major poet of the Middle Ages, he is the author of the Divine Comedy, often considered the greatest work written in this language and one of world literature.
