This rare modernist coffee table was designed in 1954 by Floris Fiedeldij and produced by Artimeta in Holland. Fiedeldij’s minimal lines and the use of only black and white were clearly inspired by De Stijl designs from the 1930’s. The perforated white lacquered metal newspaper holder, reminiscent of the work of Mathieu Mategot, was combined with a black tile top. The item is in decent condition. The top has some scratches throughout and the metal shows some corrosion and paint loss. For the fans: we also sell two very cute ‘Bambi’ table lamps by the same designer. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
