Description of the item:
A wonderful, large pair of entirely hand-carved wooden sculptures depicting two tigers in different positions, unique pieces of the highest artistic quality. They can be traced back to Asian artistic expression, either China or Japan, or even Thailand. One sculpture depicts a tiger in hunting position ready to attack its prey and the other depicts motherhood with a large tiger defending its cub, both dating back to the early decades of the 20th century. The two sculptures are both very large and beautiful, with a patina that perfectly matches our dating. The pair is unsigned and represents a fabulous example of Asian artistic craftsmanship.

Useful information for evaluating the object:
Our research shows that sculptures depicting tigers of the same size and beauty are offered at very high prices ranging from a minimum of €400-500 for a single tiger to requests of even more than €1,000-1,200 for larger and more beautiful sculptures, such as ours. Lower prices can also be found, but these sculptures are smaller and, above all, cannot compare to the beauty and artistic quality of our pair. See less
