This large and unique sculpture is a Benin Bronze specifically representing a mudfish, created by the Edo people of the Kingdom of Benin (present-day Nigeria)
The mudfish symbolized power, transformation, royalty, peace, prosperity, and fertility to the Benin people.
Made of bronze or brass using the lost wax casting method.
