This is a mid 19th century lacquered box with a design on the cover. Unique preserved piece with no damage to either the exterior or the interior. Total box is 10 3/4 square and a total of about 5 inches high. Inside is crimson red but exterior is lacquered black with design.
Purchased in Japan in 1980s and kept in a box since purchase so no issues with finish.
