Uncommon pair of Herman Miller soft pad side chairs with four star swivel base. The Soft Pad designs debuted in 1969, a decade after the release of the original Aluminum Group, adding padded seats to one of the most iconic mid century modern designs.
This particular set was produced in 1978, per the remaining tag. The side chair version of this chair is lesser seen than the armchair.
Both chairs have the Herman Miller imprint in the aluminum frame. One chair has a wide Herman Miller logo sticker as well as the paper tag depicted in the photo set.
The leather is original and has aged beautifully. It is free from rips / tears and has been conditioned for longevity. The back cushions are original while the seat cushions have been replaced for comfort. The swivel bases function properly on both chairs. The frames show surface-level imperfections.
