Rowe was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and later moved to San Antonio. He was director of the San Antonio Art Institute and art teacher for thirty years, while creating paintings and sculptures. The McNay Museum had a retrospective of his work in 1996.
This monolithic painting incorporates sculptural and painting. The painting sides have horizontal shapes extending past the stretcher frame. There are applied sticks to the bottom area.
The bright purple illuminates from the edges of the black. See less
