This vintage 6x8 Persian Kilim is believed to be a mid-century Palas flat weave of Bidjar origin—handwoven in wool circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
Palas Kilims are one of the distinct tribal rug styles, often known to hail from the nomadic Ersari, Yomut, and Tekke tribes. Their style reflects a type of panel weave, in which tribal weaves combine multiple narrow pieces into one Kilim like this one. Bidjar rugs like this are further known as some of the finest in Persian history for their quality craft.
This particular rug is simple, but rich, and enjoys beige-brown and burgundy red stripes in its all-over pattern. It’s a work of rustic old-world charm and comfortable presence—from a celebrated tradition with vast design applications today.
Condition:
This mid-century Persian Bidjar-Palas Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
