"The Motorcycle," written by André Pieyre de Mandiargues, is a French novel published in 1963, later adapted into the 1968 film "The Girl on a Motorcycle," starring Marianne Faithfull. The novel is also known as "La Motocyclette" in French. Mandiargues was a French writer associated with the Surrealists and known for his association with the painter Leonor Fini. The book is also known to have been influenced by motorcycle journalist Anke-Eve Goldmann, who was a pioneer in women's motorcycle racing.
