This vintage 4x10 Persian Kilim is believed to be a tribal runner from Harsin in the Kermanshah Province. Handwoven in wool, it originates circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
This particular Kilim enjoys an interesting design, playing medallion and all over style together with vibrant colors. Keen eyes will admire the meticulous detail it takes to achieve a piece with so many borders and variations. The result is a one-of-a-kind flat weave, and its versatile Size and warm presence offer vast design applications today.
Connoisseurs may further note a distinct tribal pattern within the inner blue field and red medallions. These most closely resembles primitivist depictions of birds, and one seldom-seen in this abundance—a rare trait executed beautifully here.
