Mid century dresser designed by Gilbert Rohde for Herman Miller as part of his iconic No. 2185 Group bedroom suite. Incorporating design cues from the Bauhaus and Art Deco movements, it's the earliest example of modern design and came at a time when Rohde was serving as design director for Herman Miller. An example is currently on display in the Brooklyn Museum.
Features four roomy, graduated drawers that are opened by using a drawer pull on the left and a finger insert on the right. Construction is typical of the period: veneer over plywood. In this case its English sycamore on the front face and Brazilian sucupiro on the tops and sides.
Measures 34" (width) x 18.5" (depth) x 42.5" (height)
Light wear throughout including veneer damage on the right side (see photos and Condition Details). There is slight friction with the drawer slides, most notably with the bottom drawer.
Overall a striking and historical piece of furniture. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
