Handwoven photograph made from two identical giclée prints of photography by Fernando Bengoechea (1965-2004). Framed in white oak.
This piece is a new interpretation of Fernando's original Karma Tree Series, hand-woven by his brother Marcelo. Fernando had a deep love for desert communities, especially Joshua Tree, a place he often visited while in Southern California. During one of those trips in the early 2000s, a chance conversation with a park ranger deeply moved him—he learned that the iconic Joshua trees were slowly dying due to environmental pollution and water scarcity. Compelled by this revelation, Fernando felt an urgent need to capture their beauty before it faded.
