Antique French carved tiger oak corner arm chair in the Renaissance Louis XIV style. Corner style chairs are uniquely designed with a diagonally oriented seat. It has the traditional four legs with two arms that curve to join in the back. There are detailed carvings throughout with include a mask, serpentine arms, and serpent splats on each side. The seat itself has a flower and leaves motif. The overall the chair has a warm, aged patina with very little wear. The wood has a nice tiger oak wood pattern.
The chair likely dates from the 19th Century. It is well built and sturdy, and has been a fascinating conversation starter for many decades in our home.
