These pictures represent a recently sold 10x14 flatweave that reinvents vintage Scandinavian Kilim in ways that both honor the Swedish minimalist aesthetic and modernize its construction. Our use of natural yarns, for example, lends a subtle striae with more of a sense of movement and depth—a subtle nod to Rollakan techniques in a modern fashion. The choice of colors, too, explores their retro feel in a more refreshed, vibrant quality. This particular striped kilim enjoys salmon pink, beige and cream colorways with a warm, dreamy presence and particularly comfortable air to its simple presence. It’s a smart balance of new and chic that brings mid-century geometric patterns a fabulous new look and feel. Our flat weave further enjoys a thick, more durable body than any flat weave in high-end rugs.
