Richard Mandin, an important 20th century French artist, was born in 1909 in Marseille. He studied at both l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris and l’Ecole du Louvre. Mandin began exhibiting his paintings in Paris in 1945 and in New York from 1948 to 1950. Mandin was both a painter and composer/pianist. His contemporaries were Pierre Ambrogiani and Antoine Ferrari.
A street in the ninth arrondissement of Marseille is named for him.
