The young woman … Read more Large bronze sculpture with brown patina by the artist Charles-Auguste LeBourg representing Nycia emerging from the Bath. The young woman in the antique style is partially draped, holding a cloth around her waist, revealing her curves. Her curly hair is tied back with a ribbon and she wears a large necklace. Her face of rare beauty is slightly lowered. In mythology, Nycia or Nyssia, queen of Lydia and wife of King Candaule, had him murdered out of revenge. The work is signed by the artist and bears the inscription “NYCIA” on its base. The figure's delicate details and graceful posture capture a timeless elegance, typical of LeBourg's romantic style.
