Kaiser Idell desk lamp No. 6556; early model from around 1930, in which the base was designed differently—the holder for the lamp arm was higher and the base itself was designed to act as a weight (in later models, an extra weight plate was inserted into the base).
This Bauhaus office lamp is in very good condition for its age; it has been completely restored and all electrical parts have been replaced.
Idell stands for: Idea Christian Dell, a master craftsman at the Bauhaus in Weimar, designed the Idell series for the Kaiser company in the 1930s, which today is one of the epitomes of the Bauhaus.
