Immerse yourself in this evocative mid-century oil on canvas titled “L’artista i el seu món (2)” — Catalan for "The Artist and His World (2)." This geometric Cubist-inspired portrait presents a solemn male figure with pipe and paintbrushes, seemingly in the midst of creative contemplation. Tones of steel blue, olive, ochre, and deep charcoal are layered in angular planes and rhythmic brushstrokes. On the reverse, the artist has inscribed the title by hand in pencil along with a loose ink sketch, offering a rare and intimate look into the creative process. The painting is signed, but the signature is currently unverified — the artist is yet to be identified or discovered , adding to the intrigue and potential of this collectible work. Subject Male figure (possibly a self-portrait) Studio scene with brushes and pipe The internal world of the artist Expressive abstraction Movement Associated Cubism / Post-Cubism Mid-century European Cubist revival with modernist and introspective influences. Abstracted figure, angular lines, emotional depth. What Does the Signature Say? The signature on the front lower right appears to read: “L. Artigau” (tentative) Further research is needed to confirm the identity. At present, the artist remains unidentified . Artist Details Artist still to be identified and discovered. Possibly Catalan origin, suggested by the use of Catalan in the handwritten title. Signature appears to read something close to "L. Artigau" but no definitive attribution has yet been made. Frame Condition Solid and well-preserved vintage gold wood frame with classical moulding. Minor age-related wear and patina, consistent with mid-20th-century artwork. Canvas is tightly stretched, original stretcher bars and corner wedges intact. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
