A very fine pair of large 3 light gilded bronze English Regency Style sconces by Edward F. Caldwell.*
Each stamped with the maker's mark of a "C" inside a lozenge diamond shape. Wired for electricity with realistic custom faux wax candle sleeves.
*Edward F. Caldwell & Company of New York, founded in 1895 by E.F. Caldwell (1851-1914), produced lighting and decorative fixtures in English, French and Italian historical styles for some of the most prominent architects of the period, including McKim Meade & White, and Carrere & Hastings.
Commissions were completed for some of the most important buildings of the Beaux Arts period in New York: the Henry Clay Frick Mansion, the University Club of New York, the JP Morgan Residence, the Harvard Club of New York, and the John Jacob Astor residence.
Commissions were also completed for the White House.
