Offered is a striking pair of large Neoclassical architectural engravings after Raphael Sanzio d'Urbino (1483–1520), masterfully engraved by Francesco Faraone Aquila (c.1676–c.1740).
The first engraving, titled "In Primo Conclavi" (Plate 8), depicts the fresco The Meeting of Leo the Great and Attila.
The second engraving, titled "In Tertio Conclavi" (Plate 16), illustrates The Battle of Ostia.
Both works feature Latin text below the images and exhibit the dramatic, classical composition and finely detailed execution characteristic of the Italian High Renaissance.
