Fabulous Vintage Stromberg Carlson Black Desk Telephone from 1940's~ Model 1243.
Stromberg Carlson was a major telephone manufacturer located in Rochester, N.Y. They also produced home electronics such as radios and televisions.
The Stromberg Carlson Model 1243 telephone showcases a 1940's Sleek Retro Design. It was a direct competitor to the Western Electric 302 telephone and both looked very similar to each other.
Like the 302, the Model 1243 was designed to contain the ringer and induction coil within the phone thereby eliminating the need for a separate bell box that was common in early telephones.
The phone seems to be housed in cast metal along with a Bakelite handset and coil. The housing shows little area of paint loss and is in great vintage condition!
The nostalgic graphics with the red numbers and black letters on the dial are fabulous!
The wiring shown has not been tested.
This could be an amazing prop for a book shelf, night stand or coffee table as a "Conversation" piece (lol).
