A gorgeous Newcomb Pottery vase thrown by master potter Joseph Meyer. He was at Newcomb for around 30 years, between 1897 and 1927. Decorated by Sadie Irvine, with relief-carved berry and leaf motif. Matte glaze with blue, green and pink underglaze. We have included a photo of the marks on the bottom of the bowl: the Newcomb mark, potter's mark of Joseph Meyer, reg. # QA34, and shape #230.
Beautiful buff grayish-blue glaze. Great condition for a Newcomb piece, with insignificant marks. A bit of internal craquelure. Overall superb condition! 7.75" x 5.5" x 5.5". Proudly presented by Guy Lyman Fine Art, New Orleans.
If you are reading this it is probably because you're already familiar with New Orleans' famous Newcomb Pottery, but there is a wealth of information about it online should you wish to learn more!
