Step into the elegance of the early 20th century with this exquisite carved walnut telephone table stand, a romantic fusion of artistic beauty and functional design. Crafted around 1910, this piece is a wonderful example of fine Edwardian-era craftsmanship.
The central cabinet door features a deeply symbolic and beautifully detailed carving of an angel guiding a lost soul, surrounded by delicate cherubs, shields, acanthus leaves, and scrolling ribbon motifs. The imagery evokes a sense of protection, hope, and grace, making this piece a truly meaningful addition to any room. Above the cabinet, a finely detailed ribbon and floral bouquet carving crowns the design, adding elegance to the overall structure.
A particularly rare feature of this piece is the figural carved legs, each adorned with angel faces and flowing details. Two of the legs display beautifully carved angelic faces, while the others exhibit refined figural motifs, enhancing the ethereal beauty from every angle.
Behind the decorative door is a central compartment, originally designed to house a telephone, complete with a removable back panel and a small cord cut-out for discreet cable management. A slim drawer sits above the compartment, ideal for storing writing materials or small essentials.

This piece was very likely produced by the Ward Furniture Manufacturing Company of Chicago, Illinois. Founded in the late 19th century by William W. Ward, the company earned a strong reputation for producing finely crafted furniture throughout the early 20th century. While Ward Furniture later became well known for Mid-Century Modern designs, during the early 1900s they specialized in traditional pieces using solid woods like walnut, often featuring hand-carved details. The surviving label, referencing "Construction" and "Mfg. Company Chicago," along with the craftsmanship and style of the table, strongly points to Ward Furniture Mfg. Co. as the maker. This piece reflects the high level of quality and artistry that defined the company’s early production.
A beautiful example of early craftsmanship, confidently attributed to the prestigious Ward Furniture Manufacturing Company of Chicago.
