An early 1900's English silver-plate sugar sifter spoon with a lovely scalloped bowl, pierced design and decorated handle.
Sugar sifters are small spoons which could be used at the table to take the powdered sugar from sugar bowls or sugar baskets and sprinkle it over fruit, puddings or cakes. During the 19th century refined sugar became cheaper and therefore more readily available to a larger section of the population thus increasing the popularity of these wonderful spoons.
