He collaborated with London's Natural History Museum in the mid 20th century, and is particularly known for his illustrations of prehistoric flora and fauna and his reconstructions of dinosaurs. In this illustration Parker characteristically paints with beautiful precision and detail, in an appealing and engaging composition, whilst his presentation is also underpinned by scientific theory and an instructive purpose. The painting is the original artwork for a publication by The Gawthorn Press. It illustrates examples of the various mammalian orders: Primate (Colobus); Marsupial (Cuscus); Carnivore (Leopard); Monotreme (Echidna); Edentiate (Armadillo); Lagomorph (Hare); Rodent (Crested porcupine); Ungulate (Gazelle); Chiroptera (Long-eared bat).Painted in gouache with graphite on artist board with hinged cover sheet.Artist's stamp on the cover sheet and verso. All artworks come with a Certificate of Authenticity and—if it is a collection artwork—its accompanying collection text or artist biography.
