Altman & Co. NYC circa 1930's. The striking translucent Green colored Onyx bodies with its' elaborately detailed vein patterns complimented with the Brass/Chrome/Silver plated hardware creates a a profound visual statement, all expertly crafted and assembled. Comprised completely of select highly detailed Onyx Marble and solid Brass or Chrome/Silver plated hardware. The set consists of the centerpiece stepped lamp, a hefty square ash tray, an ink well pen holder, an ink blotter, a letter knife and an envelope caddy. The B. Altman label is still mostly intact underneath the letter caddy and "Austria" is debossed on a few of the accessory pieces. Being that this was offered exclusively by the B. Altman Luxury store on 5th Ave. (now a historical landmark) assures this impressive set has a bona-fide pedigree of the highest quality. See less

This unique & striking Lamp Desk set is in excellent original condition, completely intact and fully functional. Very moderate signs of wear with light age patina to the metal with the only notable damage being small edge/corner nicks to the accessory pieces Onyx, that said the lamp is super clean and fairly blemish free likely due to it remaining stationary and not getting handled during usage like the other pieces. Original pull chain socket has been inspected and appears to be clean and safe, the power cord has been replaced at some point with insulated appliance wiring and is completely safe and functional.
The vendor has confirmed this piece is in working order. less
