This 30" x 24" painting of two wolves intertwined in play is about color. It was fun to harmonize the colors in the piece with each other and using only those colors. I made the painting with many layers of acrylic paint and other mark making tools like colored pencil, crayon and pencil. It is all on a stretched canvas with the sides painted black and ready to hang. I enjoy painting canids the most, and have been doing so for 5 years. All nature and critters inspire me but I do love those wild dogs! Artist LWren Walraven
I spent three months so far in Yellowstone National Park watching wolves. It is truly a thrill to see them play and be themselves in the wild. Although this image is not from something I actually witnessed, I used several photos to come up with this playful scene.
