The technique dates back to pre-Roman times, but was revived in France in the 18th century. Federal style mirrors, popular in America from the late 1700s to the early 1800s, often incorporated eglomise panels with classical motifs. Mirrors of this style remain popular today, and antique examples are sought after by collectors. See less
