The subject in formal attire with a high collar and bow tie, characteristic of Second Empire fashion. The relief is surrounded by a simple raised border and mounted on a contemporary black iron stand. Unpolished and irregular to the reverse, showing signs of hand-finishing, with metal bracket for support. France, circa 1870.
