The business operated for approximately 40 years until their retirement. Mullins Ceramics is known for its distinct designs, often featuring yellow and brown floral or fern patterns, with many pieces stamped "Mullins Ceramics Nippa, KY".

Offered here is a 3-piece coffee service set (5 if you count the lids) made by Mullins Ceramics. Down at the base of the coffee pot, if you use a magnifying glass, you can see the imprinted date 1973. This set features the Green Man motif as well as a harvesting scene and spring flowers. The finish is unique, done in multi-tones of olive green with highlights of rust.

The Green Man is a figure in British and European folklore, often depicted as a man surrounded by or emerging from foliage, symbolizing the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth, particularly associated with spring and new growth. The Green Man motif has many variations. Branches or vines may sprout from the mouth, nostrils, or other parts of the face, and these shoots may bear flowers or fruit. He's a motif found in art, architecture, and literature, representing the renewal of nature and the connection between humanity and the natural world.

The coffee pot is large, standing 13 1/4" (measuring up to the tip of the finial on the lid). The serving tray measures 17 1/2" X 14 3/4". The last piece, a biscuit jar, stands about 8" (measuring up to the tip of the finial on the lid). (This piece can also double as a large covered sugar bowl or urn).

No chips, cracks, or evidence of unusual wear on any aspect of this set. Absolutely lovely. See less
