18th Century French Provincial Louis XVI Period Trumeau Mirror. Finely carved and molded decoration retaining the original gilding and warm reddish painted finish. Unusual form with the original central arched mirror plate with a smaller one flanking each side. Provence circa 1780.
A stately and refined 18th-century French Provincial trumeau mirror from the Louis XVI period, crafted in Provence circa 1780. This architectural mirror boasts a gently arched central plate flanked by two narrower side mirrors, all retaining their original mercury glass with desirable age-appropriate spotting.
The carved wooden frame features exceptional detailing, highlighted by its original parcel-gilt floral and foliate appliques, which contrast beautifully with the warm, hand-rubbed patina of the walnut-toned finish. A carved cornice crowns the composition, while beaded trim and gilded garlands lend classic Neoclassical elegance.
A superb example of provincial French craftsmanship from the late 18th century, this mirror offers timeless character and proportion-perfect above a fireplace, console, or in an entry hall!
