C.1930's-40's; Art Deco, Egyptian-style limestone, glazed large and very heavy, Egyptian Ramses II Pharaoh Bust Heads, which were utilized as … Read more C.1930's-40's; Art Deco, Egyptian-style limestone, glazed large and very heavy, Egyptian Ramses II Pharaoh Bust Heads, which were utilized as Grand Tour, Decorative Accent pieces within an old, Parisian, French Theater marquee, along and within a grand staircase entrance. These are quite heavy and solid pieces with each weight between 35-45 lbs., each, and were sourced from France via Auction, and acquired via our clients, with the historical backdrop reference of them being originally displayed within an old French Art Deco theatre as part of the design esthetic during World War II era, within this French Theatre. The current owners utilized these as part of their own design diaspora within their homes in Manhattan, NY and The Hampton's, until relocating to Palm Beach Island, Florida, and showcased upon pedestal or stands within enclaves. Green felted base protective padding, as shown in last image. We cannot tell if they are Limestone, or Terra-Cotta, as they seem too heavy to be the latter, but surely a stone. There is a signature scribed, in the last image, BUT we cannot discern the actual name.
