This 18th-century Italian cornucopia plaque features a reverse glass painting, a decorative technique (verre églomisé) that became widely popular in Italy during the 17th and 18th centuries, especially for religious art.
The frame itself — deeply carved with scrolling acanthus foliage and finished in gilded gesso — aligns stylistically with late Baroque and early Rococo Italian craftsmanship (circa 1720–1780).
Although the hand-painted imagery of Saint Martin of Tours has a folk-naive quality, this style was characteristic of private devotional objects intended for middle-class patrons during the period. Many southern Italian religious works from the 18th century, especially those outside the major ecclesiastical commissions, exhibit similar expressive but non-academic styles.
The condition of the gilding, the carving techniques, and the traditional religious subject matter further support an 18th-century attribution.
