Stunning mid-century modern Murano glass sommerso diamond-shaped ashtray/vide poche by Flavio Poli for Seguso (Murano, Italy, 1960s/1970s). Made of grey and transparent faceted glass. It is extremely decorative. Can be used as a display piece on any table.
Height: 8 cm/3.1''; length: 12 cm/4.7''; width: 12 cm/4.7''. Weight: 690 g. Excellent vintage condition. No chips, no nicks, no cracks.
"Sommerso" (Italian for ''submerged'') is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
