The vases are crowned with gilt pinecone finials above curved tops that are encircled by foliate gilt bands. Each ovoid body is hand-painted with scenes of simple European country life on one side and the other is a scene of a more hedonistic lifestyle. On either side, golden foliate festoon handles rise to meet gilt cherubs. Each urn rests on a gilt-banded foot, which is set upon a square plinth of matching green marble, completing the composition with both grandeur and balance. See less
