An expressive New Mexico landscape rendered solely with a palette knife, "Sunset Over the Tularosa Basin" captures the soul-stirring drama of a desert sunset. Created by American painter Anita C. Blythe (b.1956), this original oil painting evokes the wide skies and glowing horizon of the Tularosa Basin with bold impasto texture and flowing, atmospheric color.
Swirling clouds in shades of violet, indigo, and ice blue stretch above distant mesas, where the final light of day casts a soft, golden glow across the horizon. The tactile knife work adds depth and movement, enhancing the emotive impact of the composition.
Signed lower right and inscribed on the back with title and artist's information. Wired and ready to hang with finished side edges in a pale blue.
