The chest has a very … Read more Primitively decorated / painted bridal chest from Germany, to be exact from the Swabian Alps. The chest has a very rustic look and shows plenty of character. This chest is in good condition for its age, although there are obviously some slight signs of use. There are some sporadic traces of old woodworm, which have obviously been checked again. The chest has a functioning lock with key. It used to be customary to give wedding furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was afterwards placed on the farm in a showroom that was only rarely used for high visits or special occasions. So a beautiful and decorative piece of history.
