This Pirouett lamp by Jean Chavanis, designed in the 1940s, was originally used to illuminate typewriters and accounting machines with precision. This electric lamp, with adjustable lighting and adjustable lamp height, is distinguished by its faceted lampshade, a typical creation of the Art Deco style. The ingenuity of its design also rests on its revolutionary articulation for the time, allowing its arm to be retracted inside its column. In this specific version, the luminaire rests on a rectangular base and has a smooth column articulated to a canted stem. A masterpiece of French know-how from the beginning of the 20th century, this lamp seduces not only by its timeless and contemporary form, but also by the story it tells, witness to an era rich in innovations.
