This thick, heavy wrapped canvas on wide stretcher bars has been the backdrop (read: drop cloth) for catching stray paint from paintings I'm working on for over fifteen years. I created the composition after studying the shapes that the paint made independently while swishing and swirling beneath the canvas on top that I'd be working on.
I love this piece and if I had more wall space, I'd be happy to keep it.
Every color family is represented here, and playful creatures, all peeking out shyly or peacocking, seeking eyes, like the bird and the cow with a clubfoot. Not sure where that came from, but the paint dictated that, so I just went with it. As artists, that's our job. Often, the paint and canvas have their own ideas, and ignoring those cues can make a piece take a heck of a lot longer than it needs to.
Contact me for additional info. Again, very cool conversational piece. No one else will have a painting like this. It's simply too weird.
Thank you for checking out my work!
