A set of four, framed ,beautifully colored aquatints. Each aquatint illustrates a different English courtroom scene.
Aquatint is a printmaking technique that produces tonal effects by using acid to eat into a copper printing plate creating sunken areas which hold the ink.
These aquatints were executed between 1808-1814
One of each;
1. Court of Common Pleas - Westminster Hall
2. Court of Chancery - Lincoln's Inn Hall
3. Court if Exchequer -Westminster Hall
4. Court of Kings Bench - Westminster Hall
All are housed under glass, and mounted in beautiful wooden frames. The aquatints are double matted. There is a black inner matte and a burgundy outer matte. A hanging wire is attached to the back of each frame.
