(image) On BFK Rives paper Engraved by Charles Sorlier from original plate no. 52, under the direction of Buffet, who had the bouquet of violets removed. In this composition, Buffet presents a still life with typically French elements. The artist balances the elegance and simplicity of the subject with a lively, generous stroke that covers the composition with a network of black lines. The work is an early lithographic print of a poster produced for the exhibition “Les peintres témoins de leur temps” at the Musée Galliera, held from January 20 to March 21, 1965.
