Frode Kierulf:
Danish painter, decorator, illustrator; he was the youngest of five children of the flax merchant Carl Julius Kierulf and his wife Angelica Josephine, née Plaskett; initially trained as a painter; 1907-11 studied at the Copenhagen Art Academy (with Otto Bache and Viggo Johansen); In 1911-13, together with Aksel Jorgensens, he decorated the Riddersalen Theater (Frederiksberg); 1914 K.A. Larssen Scholarship; February 20, 1917 Marriage to Elvira Pehrsson; In 1917-18 he decorated the Guldaldersalen (Roskilde); he designed character and stage designs for theaters; 1921 K.A. Larssen Scholarship; from 1922 he created illustrations for short stories, novels and newspapers (including Aftenbladet Søndag and Dansk Familieblad); numerous study trips to, among others, Italy (1920-21, 1923, 1925, 1928, 1938), the Netherlands, Belgium, France (1930), Germany, Czechoslovakia (1931); Works are owned by the Bornholm Art Museum, among others
