Elaborately designed vessel in an oval base shape standing on four cantilevered feet, openwork wall with symmetrically laid ribbons, bows … Read more Elaborately designed vessel in an oval base shape standing on four cantilevered feet, openwork wall with symmetrically laid ribbons, bows and tendrils with berries, playing around two pairs of butterflies, sideways towering, flying bows forming handles. Original, matching blue glass insert with a curved upper edge to match the metal vessel. Strongly influenced artistically by the sculptor Albert Mayer (1867-1944), who was appointed artistic director at WMF in 1894; characterised by the combination of naturalistic and rococo elements, typical of the late 19th century, as well as the willowy female figures, ribbons and tendrils - modern, playful surface structures and functional forms.
