An oil on board painting by the American artist Gertrude Harbart (1908-1999). Titled Pear Tree, this abstract work depicts a vibrant pear tree with orange and brown leaves growing in a yellow landscape and against a yellow sky. Signed to the lower right, the painting is displayed in a wooden frame and titled verso.
Born in Michigan City, Indiana, Harbart studied at the Chicago Art Institute, the Saugatuck Painting School, the University of Illinois, as well as the University of California. She studied under notable artists Hans Hoffman, Charles Birchfield, and Arnold Blanch. Harbart was a member of the Hooiser Salon.
