A Liberty of London silk scarf depicting an intricate and endlessly fascinating design entitled 'Peacock Garden' after the iconic work of English artist William de Morgan best known for his collaborations during the Arts & Crafts movement with William Morris. Liberty opened its flagship store in the 1920's and specialized in unique and exotic wares from craftsmen around the world. The exotic design featured on this scarf incorporates what appears to be a tree of life laden with beautiful birds, including peacocks, and snakes at a pool of water brimming with turtles and fish. The rich burgundy red border frames shades of ecru, gray, pink and lavender. The original Liberty of London packaging is included.
Very good condition. It is quite possible that the scarf was a gift and never worn.
