5’ 3” x 8’ 1” Vintage Persian Bidjar area rug from the early 20th century in a medallion pattern set on a Herati field design. The Bidjar rug has a central medallion and corner spandrels in a brilliant white color which makes the design stand out. The use of bright red, pink, yellow, blue, and green in the field and border adds to the beauty of this rug. Bidjar rugs are considered the “iron rugs of Persia” because of the tight weave. The "wetting" of the weft in each row of the weave before combing results in the use of twice as much material in weaving as other rugs and therefore these rugs tend to have a much tighter weave.
