A striking example of early 20th-century craftsmanship, this vintage Persian Heriz Karajeh runner was handwoven in the first quarter of the 1900s in the Azerbaijan province of Northwest Persia. Known for its durability and bold tribal design, this piece features a vivid red field adorned with nine axial geometric medallions in variations of the diamond form. Each medallion showcases distinctive abrash shades of green, navy, ivory, red, and pink—hallmarks of authentic village weaving.
The richly hued red ground is framed by a contrasting navy border with stylized geometric motifs, creating a balanced and harmonious composition. The outer red border is detailed with small-scale geometric designs that echo the runner’s central pattern, enhancing its cohesive aesthetic.
