The beautiful rug … Read more Vintage room size Tabriz Afshan in a rare and highly desirable all over geometric Caucasian Kuba pattern. The beautiful rug has a navy blue background field color with a dark red border The rug is circa the 2nd quarter of the 1900s and in a wonderful condition. The design is similar to the Caucasian Kuba and Shirvan rugs from the 19th century in the so-called "Afshan" pattern (stylized dragon and blossom). The field design colors include green, blue, pink, yellow, and red. The use of geometric forms and bright colors throughout makes a truly wonderful design rug. This rug has a similar design as SKUs 1920, 2245, 1858, and 1261, which is very rare to find vintage rugs with very similar design.

Finally, this rug is part of the identical pair (1260 and 1261) that was most likely commissioned to a top rug weaver in the city of Tabriz in NW Persia and custom-designed and made in the 2nd quarter of the 20th century as a wedding gift.
